Teenage Dream was the first Pop-up Shop curated by Modern Misfits in June 2013. Our concept had materialized from a desire to create our own kind of fashion world, here in Philadelphia, as a safe place for those who wanted an alternative to the cut-throat world we had learned about it in school.
The installation exhibition was broken into two rooms. One being the "reality room" where there was a bed, a record player, and racks of clothing of unique grunge styles and earth tones. The "dream room" installation actually came to mind in a dream. I dreamt of pink clouds, Victorian style furniture with a technicolor feel. The clothing and jewelry we had on display was perfect for this dream-like atmosphere. Bright colors, patterns, and textures filled the room.
We featured the works of several different artists and had live performances throughout by School Dance!
